Rhode Island Food Culture: Dining, Drinking & Food Stuff

Anybody know what happened to Parkside. I ate there a few years ago and the rotisserie offerings were pretty good. I went there recently and it was DREADFUL. The place was 1/2 full (1/2 empty) and the service was still terrible. The appetizers, particularly the calamari, were worse than average. I had an inedible duck served on the worst risotto I have ever tasted - totally amateur. I was surprised when the waiter took my full plate and didn't inquire as to what was wrong. Maybe that explains why the place was 1/2 full. Also, I went on the website under comments and expressed my serious disappointment. I never heard back. Too many good places that want my business to waste money on an experience like this.

They did change chefs. Anthony Algasso opened his own diner (The Cozy Corner) in Johnston on Plainfield Pike. But that just scratches the surface.

If you look at the whole picture it seems that the owner may have changed his focus. FOH and BOH are now not getting the attention needed in such a competitive food city as Providence. I could name 5 places that are fighting to get your seat in one of their seats. Give THOSE folks some love.

Our goal was not to create another place for people to get hit with a one way information flow, but to start a dynamic, group conversation about food culture in Rhode island by all who are passionate about it. Bon Appetite
