Hey Steve -- It was great meeting you too, sadly it was very difficult to hear the coversation from your end of the table. As an ex-NYer, I found that there is plenty to do in RI you just have to search around a bit more. I did decide to stop by Nick A Nee's before heading home and didn't leave there until after 12! The music was great and fun, saw lots of people I hadn't seen since I was in 'lock down' for 2 1/2 months after my foot surgery. On a sad note, I saw another friend who's been fighting brain cancer for a while who didn't look so good, and a friend told me he is dying, and has about a month. I was glad to have seen him and give him a hug, though it has made me so incredibly sad.
Hope you enjoyed your dinner, my chicken was a bit salty -- but I was so hungry by the time it came I would've eaten my napkin.
On another note, I know how some feel about chains HOWEVER, I am all about good food at a decent price and re: Cheesecake Factory their lunch menu (smaller portions/prices on some salads, pastas, lunch sized pizza w/salad, selected entrees) served until 5 all week long, and their bar menu 4-6, mon - fri are the best deals in town, IMHO.
Another suggestion for outside eating that I just remembered, Garden City @ Cafe Luna's -- it is right next door to Applebees (feh) interior is a bit electic and it is a self serve cafe during the day, and lovely with flattering lighting at nite.
As far as writing things down or stand-up, I have seriously considered both, and think there is a book a-brewing within. I was/became a 'friend of the club' in the 90's at Catch A Rising Star and was there many a Tuesday night when it was me, the waitstaff, and a few comics and the laughs were few and far between and I didn't think my ego could handle that for the long term.
If you ever want to know my personal suggestions on food @ Mohegan Sun, let me know.... have a great weekend, and eat well and often, lol
Hi Stephanie -- it was nice to meet you last night -- you are a walking fount of information on the food and nightlife scene in Providence! Incredible food stories to be sure and your exposition is lucid, funny and fascinating -- you should start writing these things down or think about doing stand-up. Hope to see you at the next event. Steve
