Rhode Island Food Culture: Dining, Drinking & Food Stuff

I am going to Portsmouth for a conferance in March and was looking for a good dinner spot. The places posted as 'near by dining' don't look promising. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Kylie-

Here are some places:
Victory on State Street- excellent.
The Dunaway House- a little expensive, but gorgeous and great food.
Cacao in Kittery- if they are open, it's the best chocolates, especial the best ever sea salt caramels!

Have fun!

We love stopping by Portsmouth Brewery on our way back to Boston for fresh beer and food pairings. Not haute cuisine by any means, but the convivial atmosphere (i.e., wicked crowded during peak hours, less so during off-peak) and decent pub grub brings us in time and time again. We always fill up our growler when we stop by.

Our goal was not to create another place for people to get hit with a one way information flow, but to start a dynamic, group conversation about food culture in Rhode island by all who are passionate about it. Bon Appetite
