Narragansett, Trinity, Newport Storm or Buzzard's Bay? Tell me which you prefer to swill & why...

Which Rhode Island beer do you prefer? For me, I have to say my favorite out of the above options, would be Buzzard's Black Lager....so delicious & dark!

Narragansett, and Trinity Porter. Which is the same as Narragansett Porter I guess :)

I dont drink much beer at all, but when I do I prefer either cheap swill, or dark beers.

I'm going to have to go with Newport Storm. I like most of their seasonals. But I have been known to swig a Narragansett tall boy from time to time...

I have to say that if I'm in the neighborhood, I have a hard time resisting a Trinity IPA on tap...probably my favorite beer brewed in RI.

Narragansett is a good "go to" beer when I don't feel like something good. Generally, I prefer English-style ales but I don't care much for Trinity or Newport Storm. I'll give Buzzard's Black a shot. Black lagers are really tasty.

I know this is heresy for a Rhode Islander but I can't drink 'Gansett. On tap, occasionally, but the cans are awful. Favorite local beer right now is Larkin's Stout down at Trinity, I wish they'd bottle or can it instead of the IPA so's I could take some home. I guess I could get a growler though, right?

I really enjoy going to Buzzards Bay and getting an assortment of growlers for a party. The Pale Ale is probably one of my favorites. I also like the Trinity IPA as well, but I wish either of these fine brewers would make an extra hoppy beer for freaks like me.
My favorite beer is called "Hoptical Illusion" from Blue Point Brewery, Patchogue, NY.
Ugly bottle, stoner name, but an amazing brew. Adamsville Wine & Spirits recommended it to me. I did have one killer ale from Newport Storm at a wedding once, but didn't get the name. Too busy hot wiring the limo.

Buzzard's Bay isn't a RI beer.

My favorite is probably Newport Storm '06, though that's not an everyday beer. I'd probably have to go with Trinity IPA.

I was just mentioning Buzzards Bay as they are local, just over the border, that's all.

I would say my favorite RI beer thus far is the Newport Strom Henry (munich dark). It probably their best beer to date and is wonderfully rich, complex, and smooth on the finish. Bravo to them! Trinity makes great stuff and their beer at the brewpub are usually very tasty.

Don't cound out coddintons if we are counting beers on tap!

It's interesting how Union Station is never mentioned at all when people talk about local beers. I haven't been there in years, do they still brew on premises? Is it any good?

They still brew on premises. Aaron, the new brewmaster at USB, is putting out some really nice beers. I've always liked USB better than Trinity (IMO, my homebrew is better than anything you can get at Trinity) so my opinion may not be worth much.

Funny (?) story: I was at USB recently for a mug club get-together and they was a familiar-looking man and woman drinking the beer and making tasting notes. I was hanging out with some guys from Yankee Brew News and we convinced Aaron to go over and see who he was. While Aaron was over talking to them, I couldn't get The Brickskeller (legendary beer bar in Washington DC) out of my head. Aaron finally came back and said "His name is Tucker or something" and I said "HOLY SH**! IT'S BOB TUPPER!" and ran over to talk to him. Bob and Ellie are pretty well-known in the beer world. I met him several times at The Brick, which is why the random neurons were putting The Brick in my head. They live in the DC area and were up here just trying out the local brews. The Brew News guys knew who he was too. He was heading over to Trinity after USB, but I bet he didn't get recognized there!

I have yet to have a beer I would call "good" at Union Station. While I have a love/hate relationship with Trinity (when they're on, they're really good, but when they're off, they pretty bad, and it's a 50-50 shot), Union Station tends to be watered down, thin, and lacking in flavor, with the only exception being their vanilla porter.
