Hello Kitty -

As for the idea of a machine of some kind, we did some research for a project at work and the only thing we came up with at fiurst glance was a unit for home bars which made lousy seltzer, not much of it, and was prohibitvely expensive.

HOWEVER...

Being both a romantic and a seltzer fanatic, I have always yearned for the seltzer guy of old. I love those bottles when we're down in BA. And guess what...? He's here WITH home delivery!

When I last looked at these guys they had higher minimums. Now their website seems to indicate something that would work for home dlviery. Their site says they are short a drivr right now, but will be making the rounds again soon. I LOVE IT! Thanks for reminding me to look again.

Check out HOMEGROWN.org for a DIY Carbonation Machine - there's a ginger ale recipe, too.
A little shameless self promotion...

I picked up a soda bottle on target.com and buy chargers from creamright.com. If you buy the generic cartridges it's $40 for 100. Those cartridges are exactly the same as the Liss ones (if I remember correctly, they're even made in the same factory. Creamright sells cheaper bottles too.

crazy horse: Over the long run, it's cheaper to make your own seltzer. Also, it doesn't get flat since it sits in a pressurized soda bottle. Not to mention, as Cat says, buying plastic bottles of soda is wasteful. Why not make your own? It's cheaper and you get fizzy water every time!
